A couple of things to note before we get started:
- Between March-May, appointments are open for the prior tax year only. If you urgently need taxes filed for an earlier year, please contact us directly.
- Appointments for back year taxes will open on June 1. Please note, we can only assist with returns for the last 10 years.
- If you are filing taxes with your spouse or common-law partner, book one appointment only. Both of you will need to be present for the appointment.
- The tax clinic is in high demand and appointments fill up quickly. If you find that there are no appointments available in the booking calendar, it means we are currently fully booked. We apologize for any inconvenience.

Our eligibility guidelines are set by the Canada Revenue Agency’s (CRA) Community Volunteer Income Tax Program (CVITP). You can review a list of these guidelines on their website here. There may be other ways to file your taxes, such as working with a paid tax service, getting help from a trusted friend or family member, or using a free or low-cost online tax software.

- Social Insurance Number (SIN) – this can usually be found on tax slips.
- Income Slips (“T Slips”) from all sources in the tax year(s) you are filing for. Here are some of the most common:
- Seniors usually have
- T4A(P) – Canada Pension Plan (CPP)
- T4A(OAS) – Old Age Security (OAS) and the Guaranteed Income Supplement (GIS) are both documented on this one slip
- T5007 (if receiving GAINS)
- May have additional slips for private pension, bank account interest, etc. (including T4A, T5, T3, T4RSP, T4RIF)
- People on Ontario Works/ODSP income
- T5007 Slip
- Other slips:
- T4 – Employment
- T4E – Employment Insurance Income
- T5 – interest from savings accounts
- T4A – CERB, CRB, and other miscellaneous income like bursaries and grants
- If you have any deductions to claim, please prepare:
- Medical expense receipts (For prescriptions, a printout can be obtained from the pharmacy)
- Public Transit PRESTO usage report (only for people who are age 65+)
- Charitable or political donation receipts
- Your RENT/PROPERTY TAX information:
- If you are a renter, you must get a letter or receipt from your landlord that states:
- Your name
- The landlord's name and contact information
- The address of the place you are renting
- The number of months you have lived at this address
- The amount of rent you paid to the landlord during the year
- If you own your home, please provide the FINAL property tax bill for the year.
If you are a newcomer:
- Date of arrival in Canada and immigration status
- World income earned in the tax year you arrived in Canada (if you or your spouse earned income outside of Canada)
- Proof of payments to any dependents that are non-resident in Canada that you want to claim as dependents
If you are a post-secondary student, please include:
- T2202 tuition expense slip
- Any childcare expenses to be claimed
